While returning from the Branch Dive at Kenmore Point on Sunday 8th June 2008, Branch members Tom Cooper, Liz Dolan, Steve Mclaughlin and James Young observed a Police Officer in attendance at the loch side just south of Inverary. With the officer was a woman, and both were pointing at the upturned hull of a boat, floating near the shore.  Being the public spirited people that they are, Steve and Tom stopped at a convenient junction, and returned to the scene to offer assistance. Introducing ourselves to the Police Officer, we made the offer of assistance which was gratefully received. He advised that the woman on shore was in fact the local Coastguard.

The coastguard remained on shore while Steve and Tom donned drysuits and entered the water.

Close inspection revealed the hull to be that of a small yachting tender which appeared to have suffered catastrophic damage, with both the hull  and superstructure being spit in a number of places.

However  Steve and Tom managed to bring the damaged boat back to shore, where James, Tom, Steve and Susan (the Coastguard) manhandled the wreckage to a place above the high water mark, where it would no longer pose a threat to boats on the loch.

The brave divers complete the safe recovery of the mystery boat. WLSAC wait confirmation that this could be the long awaited Branch dive boat, if an owner does not come forward.
