Furnace Quarry, Loch Fyne
18 December, 2005

Our wee Xmas tree at the edge of the quarry brightened up a grey day. Rain and a strong breeze were put behind us by a good warm fire and food cheered everyone. Thanks to Lesley for the soup and chilli, to Gordon and Paul for the firewood, Jenny for the roasted chestnuts, Jenny, Audrey and Joanne for the mince pies and all who provided the Xmas cake.

After the diving and great food we retired to the George Hotel in Inverary to fill in our Dive Logs. These are some of those who were there on the day.
Back row: Steve Pirrie, Gordon Young, Douglas Potter, Lesley Anderson, Joanne Forrest, Lorraine Graham, Iain Graham, Boyd Forrest and Jim Anderson.

Front row: Paul Brady, Daniel Brady, Ben Forrest, Jenny Young and Audrey Johnston.

Behind the camera: Carley Smith of the George Hotel.

Not in the picture but there on the day :- Douglas and Glenda Forman, Stevie McLauglin, Hazel Macfarlane, Jill Roberts, Liz Dolan, Tom Cooper, Ken Smith, Norman Mitchell, Ally Wood and Jim Morton.

One of the Bolocera tuediae anemone that make this site unique. To find a single specimen of this large (300 mm dia.) species on a dive is a delight, but here there are at least 15 scattered about the debris at the bottom of the old pier at depths from 27 up to 10 metres. Why it grows here in such numbers is yet another of the mysteries of Loch Fyne. Photograph by Jim Anderson.
