04 November John Bingham 1931 -2002It was with much sadness we attended the Remembrance Service held in loving memory ofJohn Bingham.
John entered into life on the 7th November 1931 and entered into rest on the 30th October 2002. John will be much missed by all his friends in SSAC and the Branch, having been at various times BDO and Chairman of the Branch during his 30 years of membership. The Branch was well represented at the Crematorium and our sincere condolences were extended to John's wife and sons. In the words of John's epitaph - "Do not be afraid of dying. Rather be afraid of not living."

29 October Committee meeting and pool training.
27 October A days boat diving on the MV Sea Otter. Due to weather conditions we dived in Loch Etive on two of the deep submarine cliffs north east of the Bonawe narrows. The most interesting animal, in what is a very different environment, was this juvenile John Dory spotted at 15 metres on the first dive.

10 March A days boat diving, for some of us, on the MV Sea Otter. Bad weather restricted the numbers who made it to Oban and the trip itself. The diving was constrained to sites well sheltered from the force 9's blowing further out.

February
26 February Club AGM.
This year we held the meeting in the Community Centre. After the usual reports the 2002 committee were elected and fees and charges set for the next year.
The annual levy increased for the first time in several years to £40.00 while charges for kit hire are the same at £4.00 per item or £10.00 for the set.

Your annual levy is now due!

After the meeting we enjoyed a lavish buffet prepared by new member, George Bruce, and enjoyed some slides from Eric Rigg's time in the Antarctic and from Jim and Gordon's trips to Sardinia and Sulawesi.

Several large lobsters were found and a humungeous specimen was left in his hole, nobody being brave enough to go too near.
