9 December Diving at the Caves, Loch Long. The 'Rest and be Thankful' was closed due to landslides so we went back to an old favourite. A lovely day and good diving.

2 December Diving at Stallion Rock, Loch Fyne and Dunollie Point, Oban.
1 December Stallion Rock, Loch FyneNight Dive at Stallion Rock, Loch Fyne. The night dive was good, dived at 18.00 approx, 40 minute dive, all 6.
Lots of life, shoals of docile saithe, (apart from one which attacked Jim
and Ben) Lots of small scallops, a few biggies which provided a starter.
Dogfish, Wrasse, large-ish edible Crabs, Conger, lots of Prawns, and of course the two Lobsters. Click on the image for more detailed photographs.

14 October Diving and Training at Lochside Cottages, Ballachulish, Loch leven on a grey and overcast day. For some it was their best ever dive on this site and for others it certainly was not.

06/07 October Yet another excellent night dive at Stallion Rock. 3 club members dived on the evening of 6/10/01 on the ebbing tide. Strong winds driving onshore made the entry a little difficult, but underneath a peaty freshwater layer, visibility was a good 7-10 metres. Amongst various fish life seen were Dogfish (several swimming around), shoals of Saithe, Poor Cod, large Ballan Wrasse, Conger Eel, Cod, a large Red Gurnard (Chelidonichthys spinosus (McClelland, 1844) approx 35 cm long.
Several large Lobsters were seen, the smallest of which was about 20-25 cm. Towards the end of the dive, all 3 divers saw a John Dory, presumably the one which was seen 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately the dive on the following day did not live up to the previous evening dive, with some small shoals on the edge of the
visibility, and some large Ballan Wrasse at the base of the cliff.

31 July Committee meeting, Sport Diver lecture and pool training.
28/29 July 2 days diving on the MV Amidas out of Lochaline. We dived on Broad Rock and Auliston Cliff in Loch Sunart on the Saturday 28th and The Slate Wreck and The Hispania in the Sound of Mull on the Sunday 29th.
The accommodation in the Lochaline Dive Centre was great and the meal on Saturday night, prepared by Alistair, was delicious - especially the fresh Loch Sunart scallops.

27 February Club AGM.
This year due to the inclement weather we held the meeting in the function room of the Fairway Hotel. After the usual reports the 2001 committee were elected and fees and charges set for the next year.
The annual levy remains at £30.00 while charges for kit hire are increased to £4.00 per item or £10.00 for the set.

Your annual levy is now due!
